Coffee & Connect at Reigning Hope Ranch (a non-profit organization): A Place to Show Up Exactly As You Are
If you’re a veteran, active military (any status), or a first responder, there’s a place for you every Friday morning at Reigning Hope Ranch in Orrington, Maine.
No sign-ups. No expectations. No pressure to share more than you want to.
Just good coffee, real conversation, and people who get it.
What is Coffee & Connect?
Coffee & Connect (CNC) is a free, private weekly gathering designed to give you space—mental, social, and physical—to reset and reconnect.
We meet: Most Fridays at 9:00 AM
Reigning Hope Ranch305 Center Drive, Orrington, Maine
Right now, we gather in the yurt—just park and walk behind the barn. You’ll find us.
Stay for five minutes or the full two hours. No one’s keeping track.
What actually happens when you show up?
Here’s the honest answer: nothing forced.
You’ll find:
Camp-style coffee already going
A hot breakfast ready for you
A small group of people talking, laughing, or just sitting quietly
A relaxed, private setting where you don’t have to explain yourself
Some people talk. Some don’t. Some come every week. Others stop in once in a while.
You can:
Sit and listen
Jump into conversation
Step outside for air
Tour the ranch or meet the horses
Or just drink your coffee in peace
There’s no agenda. That’s the point.
Who is this for?
Veterans (any era, any branch) & spounses/friend
Active duty, Guard, and Reserve
First responders
You don’t need to be in crisis. You don’t need a referral. You don’t need to “need help.” You just need to show up.
A few things people usually want to know
Do I have to RSVP? No. Just come.
Is there a cost? No. It’s completely free.
Is this therapy? No formal sessions at CNC —just connection. But it’s real, and it matters. (RHR does have a licensed clinician available if you want to inquire, but there will not be a clinician at CNC)
Can I bring my service dog? Yes. Please keep them leashed—we’re a working ranch with horses and ongoing equine programs.
Do I have to ride a horse? No. There will be horses nearby to say hello - or take a tour of the ranch but riding or horse interaction is not necessary.
What if I don’t know anyone? Most people didn’t their first time either.
What if I only stay 10 minutes? That’s completely fine.
Why it works (what makes this different)
No pressure to talk
No labels or expectations
Built around shared experience, not explanation
Nature, animals, and space to breathe
Consistency—same place, same time, every week
There’s something grounding about being around others who understand without needing a full backstory.
From those who attend:
“It’s a safe place to meet friends. I like the comradery and the horses are great.”
“I don’t have to explain anything here. I can just show up, have coffee, and be around people who get it.”
“It gives me something to look forward to each week. No pressure, just good people and a calm place to land.”
Monthly Campfire & Cookout

Once a month, we take it a step further:
Free campfire & cookout
One Thursday each month at 5:00 PM
Same relaxed environment, just with a little more time and a meal around the fire. Dates are posted on the website—always check before heading out.
Looking ahead: Veteran Basecamp
We’re currently building something bigger—a dedicated Veteran Basecamp right here at the ranch. It’s being designed specifically for connection, programs, and continued support.
What you see now is just the beginning.
For providers & those referring
If you work with veterans or first responders, this is an easy, low-barrier resource:
No intake process
No paperwork
No commitment required
Peer-based environment
Consistent weekly access
It complements clinical care without replacing it—and often helps people take that first step toward broader support.
Final word
You don’t have to commit to anything. You don’t have to explain anything. You don’t even have to stay. Just show up. Coffee' on. Breakfast is hot. There’s a seat for you.
